Understanding Movement Anatomy with James Earls
€429
Purchase required to enroll
We are delighted to welcome author and international presenter James Earls to the studio in 2025.
Understanding Anatomy of Movement is a two day workshop, designed to make anatomy make sense in the context of movement.
It uses the language of anatomy accurately and in a way that allows the attendee to see anatomy of movement.
We explore full-body movement and get comfortable with how movement travels through the body in a natural way - emphasising the difference between ‘movement’ and ‘exercise’.
The course is modality independent in that it is applicable for all movement teachers - PTs, yogis, dancers, Pilates teachers and physios. It is about establishing a firm foundation of understanding the language of anatomy.
With this foundation you will be able to recognise the effects of almost every exercise, be able to predict what will happen during any movement, be able to describe the full-body reaction during any movement, be able to accurately communicate with other professionals, understand the effects of new approaches more quickly - thereby making new trainings and additions to their practice faster, smoother, and deeper.
This weekend course will change the way you understand movement.
We will show how to use positioning and movement directions can be combined to create any effect in any part of the body - giving the attendees the ability to create any exercise to suit the needs of the client.
The attendees will perform a few exercises to help their understanding of anatomy.
It will help you break free from repertoire - you will UNDERSTAND MOVEMENT and have the skill to create endless new exercises. The course will teach things that should have been taught at the beginning of your career and you have looked for ever since.
By grounding ourselves in the true functional anatomy of human body, we will explore the science of movement. You will learn how to see the human body and its movement in new and exciting ways that open your eyes to the huge potential within movement therapy.
Building from the base of functional, evolutionary and comparative anatomy, you will learn how to put all of the theory into practice, bringing it together in a way that makes sense - marrying biotensegrity alongside the language of biomechanics .
At the end of this first weekend you will be able to see the reality of 4D anatomy of movement and create new exercises or adapt old ones according to the needs of your clients.
We will explore muscle nomenclature and position and the role/influence of joint types on movement and the functions of muscle and their movement interactions with fascia (more than just elasticity).
